Ajmer Sharif Dargah Big Deg ( Couldron) Emperor Akbar had given it as a gift. The specialty of this deg is that when food is cooked inside it, it does not get hot on the top of steel material.
Capacity of this deg 120 Mound is 45 quintals 4800 kg, it requires ingredients like rice, ghee, sugar, Zafran all dry fruits etc, it costs 150,000 Rupees to make it.

The small pot was given as a gift by Emperor Jahangir, it is of 60 Mound, 24 quintal, 2400 kg capacity, for cooking Zafran, rice, all dry fruits and other Material required, cost of making it comes to 75,000. Rupees

 

Deg Niyaz

This is the veiw of how niyaz deg is cooked though as you can see people are contributing all sorts of dry fruits, rice, coconuts, money, jewelleries, etc, etc.

On the western side of the Darwaza lies the larger vessel, which was donated by Akbar in Hijri 976 (1569 A. D.) During Urs, about 120 mann of rice is cooked in this vessel, alongwith dry fruits and condiments. The preparation is called Tabarruk and it is distributed amongst the destitute.

All these Deghs are cooked by Zaireen (pilgrims/devotees)


who can afford to cook, through their respected Syed Zaadgaan (Khuddams) of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz. If you have a plan to cook Degh at any time of the year, please let me know in advance, so that i may make the necessary arrangements required, as Deghs are cooked all the year round. It can be cooked in your personal presence & in your absence too, on your behalf or any sort of Niyaz you want to cook other then Degh.
